Wanda was born to Ausley Griffith Gammage and Eva Vena Johns Gammage on March 18, 1943, in Mobile, Alabama. Wanda was a true Southern Momma – she enjoyed cooking for her family and spending time with her grandchildren. She committed fully to her children, and attended every event they participated in. Wanda always said that if she could go back and relive her life she would, just for the opportunity to raise her children all over again. Before her beloved husband, Franklin Daniel Holbein, Sr. passed away, the two of them enjoyed traveling the country in their motorhome with their friends. Her greatest accomplishment were her children and family. Wanda was strong in her faith and was a woman of God. She loved her bible study class. Later in life, Wanda enjoyed watching the birds feed from her bird feeders. She said they made her marvel at the wonderful creations of God. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend, and will be greatly missed.
Wanda was preceded in death by her loving husband, Franklin Daniel Holbein, Sr.; parents; her sister, Norma Peters; brother-in-law, Robert Percy Peters; niece, Carol Peters; and one brother, Jimmy Gammage.
She is survived by her sons, Franklin Daniel Holbein, Jr. (Trina), Randy Holbein (Yvonne), and Gary Holbein (Twanya); daughter, Amy Howell (Pat); grandchildren, Daniel, Harrison, Emma, Knight, Heidi, Colton, Hannah and Gary, Jr.; a brother, Micky Gammage; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and other cherished family and friends.
Visitation for Wanda will be held at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway in Mobile, AL on Saturday, April 5, 2025, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m., with funeral services immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Ben Dunnam Foundation.
