Sylvia ...

I've been out of touch the past few days and have just learned of Bill's passing. Although I've only had one brief visit with him in recent years, I've frequently thought of him and recalled the influence he had on me when we were younger.

Bill was four years my senior ... perhaps not very much difference at the age we are now, but quite significant when we were in our teens and early adult years. He was an important role model for me, and I treasured our friendship. It was because of Bill that I broke from my pack of high school friends and went to Mississippi State to pledge Sigma Chi. It was only natural to want to be like Bill Harvey, and it was a good thing to want!

I will miss him, and I'll always remember him with gratitude. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
