Born May 5, 1957, Billy was a lifelong resident of Mobile, the son of Horace Turner Jackson, 97, and the late Gloria Martin Jackson.
He graduated from McGill-Toolen Catholic High School in 1975, then the University of Alabama and UA School of Law in 1980.
Billy cheered for the Crimson Tide, but only second to his lifetime fanaticism for Auburn Tigers football and basketball. For Billy, “War Eagle” was a term of endearment.
One of his first childhood dream jobs was being a television or radio announcer for Auburn football, but he also loved the dramatic courtroom showdowns of TV attorney Perry Mason, which ultimately inspired him to practice law in Mobile for 45 years.
A lifelong member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and frequent visitor to the Visitation Monastery, Billy loved God and had an insurmountable faith in Jesus’s words, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you … Do not let your hearts be troubled,” (John 14:27), and “... in Me you may have peace. In the world, you will have tribulation. But take heart I have overcome the world,” (John 16:33). He now feels that peace.
There is nothing he cherished more than time with family and friends, especially playing golf and tennis, watching an Auburn game, or sharing a meal.
He will be dearly missed by his father Horace “Bubba” Jackson, of Mobile, AL; his brothers and sisters: Blair Pate (Tommy), of Lexington, SC.; Fran Dougherty (Dan), of Fort Myers, FL; Toni Sweet, of Mobile, AL; Marty Jackson (Penny), of Evans, GA; Mike Jackson (Lane), of Mobile, AL; his four children: Daniel Jackson, of Charlotte, NC; Horace Turner Jackson II (Olivia), of Fairhope, AL; Kathryn Michelle Jackson (George), of Pace, FL; and William Stewart Jackson (Candace), of Auburn, AL; his grandchildren: Easton, Turner, Atticus, Helena, Sawyer, Allie, Hannah, Harper, Brady, John Thomas, and Lillian; his Aunt Toni J. Myers, of Mobile, AL, and numerous relations including cousins, nieces and nephews, who he loved dearly.
And he is reunited in Heaven with his beloved mother, Gloria “Nana” Martin Jackson, his grandparents, John O’Connell Jackson Sr. and Helena Turner Jackson, Edward and Frances Martin; uncles John O. Jackson Jr. and Edward Martin Jr., aunts Patricia J. Harden and Lucille J. Ollinger, his nephews, Joshua Jackson and Chad Pate.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 15, 2026, at 10 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Visitation will be held prior to the service at 9 a.m. and Rosary at 9:30 a.m.
Memorial donations in Billy’s memory may be directed to the Visitation Monastery.
