William Archibald Jordan

William Archibald (Bill) Jordan passed away in June 2026 at the age of 65 at his home in Springhill. Mr. Jordan was born at Mobile Infirmary October 22, 1960, to Bettie Camilla Archibald Jordan and Clifton Dewitt Jordan.

His parents predeceased him in 2005 (Bettie) and 2012 (Clifton).

He is survived by a sister Dr. Marcia Jordan Hartwig (Dr. Geoffrey) of Raleigh, NC, and by first cousins Bettie Jean (“Betsy”) and Gena Hopson of Mobile.

Mr. Jordan was a 1979 graduate of UMS -Wright Preparatory School (then University Military School) and Tulane University, where he graduated with departmental honors in English. He spent his junior year abroad at Canterbury Christ Church University in England. He later attended the University of Missouri in journalism and spent an internship at the prestigious Horizon Magazine in Tuscaloosa. He earned a master’s in education degree from the University of South Alabama, where he served as an adjunct instructor in English for over a decade. The awards won by several of his students were a source of great pride.

Bill loved cats and University of Alabama football and looked forward to watching Bama games with his cousins over nachos every fall.
