William "Billy" Kahn

Billy attended Old Shell Road Elementary School, Murphy High School and Vanderbilt University, where he was an active member of ZBT fraternity, and graduated in 1959 with a degree in Business.

Billy spent his entire professional career in residential real estate, both sales and management, where he made many life long friends. He received an honorable discharge from the United States Army in 1968 with the rank of Captain. He was a long time active member of the Homebuilder’s Association and the Mobile Board of Realtors. Anyone who came in contact with Billy knew him as a man of integrity, honesty and hard work; traits which he instilled in his sons and grandchildren.

Billy was a loving, devoted husband, extremely proud father, grandfather and friend of countless members of the community. He was an avid supporter of both his children and grandchildren’s athletic careers, spending endless hours at ballparks and gyms.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Rebecca and Irving Kahn, and his beloved wife of 58 years, Harriet Scheuer Kahn. He is survived by his devoted sons, Jeff Kahn, Bobby (Karla) Kahn, and four loving grandchildren, William Kahn, Joey Kahn, Amanda (Daniel) Balena and Lauren Newman.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at 4:00 PM at the Springhill Avenue Temple Cemetery, Owens Street, off Virginia St.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Springhill Avenue Temple, Ahavas Chesed Synagogue, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Vanderbilt University Children’s Hospital, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
