William "Bill" O. Lavender

William O. "Bill" Lavender, 78, a life-long resident of Wilmer, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at his home. Bill served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was also a member of Wilmer First Baptist Church.

Mr. Lavender is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Alma Lavender; and a brother, Roy Lavender. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jean Lavender; children, Larry (Marilyn) Lavender, Diana (Bobby) Rachel, William Shannon (Kathy) Lavender, Scott Russell (Kelli) Lavender; brother, Donald R. (Barbara) Lavender; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, with one on the way; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Lavender will be held Friday, June 15, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. from Wilmer First Baptist Church with interment to immediately follow in Wilmer Cemetery with Rev. Terry Glasscock officiating. The family will be accepting friends at the church Thursday, June 14, 2018 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.

Pallbearers will be Rusty Lavender, John Rodney Hancock, John Dalton Hancock, Mitchell Ellison, Scott Hunter Lavender and Larry Albert Lavender, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Levi Lavender, Robert Earl Lavender, Gavin Phillip Rachel, Jonathan Rachel, Heath Lavender, Earl Lowery, and Larry Albert Lavender, Sr.
