William Jason Lloyd

William Jason Lloyd, 93, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family. Now, as the family mourns his passing, they also celebrate all that he was to them, his relatives, his friends, and all who knew him. A visitation will be held at 12 p.m. at Pine Crest Funeral Home in Mobile, AL on Tuesday, September 28, 2021. A graveside service, officiated by Father John Lynes, of Little Flower Catholic Church, will follow at Pine Crest Cemetery at 2 p.m. William “Big Bill” was born in Uriah, AL, on September 2, 1928. He was the son of Ernestine Blanton Lloyd and Knorvie Lee Lloyd. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alice Schottgen Lloyd; daughter, Paula Lloyd Pugh; sister, Betty Lloyd McGee; and grandson, Austin James Lee Tasler. Bill graduated from Murphy High School (Mobile, AL), served in the Navy from 1946 to 1948, and attended Spring Hill College. He retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and was inducted into The Gallery of Distinguished Retired Employees of the Mobile District. When he wasn’t playing golf with his buddies at Spring Hill Golf Course, Bill loved eating and having good conversation with family at the Dew Drop Inn and Cracker Barrel. He was known for livening up the kitchen dance floor and telling memorable stories about his youth and famous courtship of his beloved wife. Every now and then, he enjoyed an ice-cold beer. Bill was a devoted and loving son, husband, father, and grandfather. His entire world and pleasure in life was taking care of his family, and he was their rock. Bill is survived by his son, William Jason Lloyd Jr., “Little Billy”, of Mobile, AL; daughters, Catherine Lloyd Largue (Roy), of Mobile, AL; Kaye L. Parden (Doug), of Freeport, FL; nieces “other daughter”, Laurie M. Tasler (Michael) of New Braunfels, TX; and son-in-law, Jerry Pugh, of Mobile, AL. Bill was extremely proud of his eight grandchildren – Diana Lloyd, Jon Largue (Leslie), Bret Largue (Lawren), Paige Largue Thomas (Josh), Kristen Parden Hurley (Brett), Kallie Parden Rawles (Corey), Eric Tasler (Sydney), and Austin Tasler (deceased). Bill is also survived by 16 great-grandchldren. Memorial donations may be made to the donor’s charity of choice or to be used according to the wishes of the family for masses, churches, or flowers in honor of William J. Lloyd.
