

William “Jerry” Gerald Wiley, age 67, a native of Vanceboro, North Carolina, and resident of Wilmer, Alabama, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 22, 2015. He was the son of William Woodrow Wiley and Pauline Wiley Coombe (Jack), and brother to Michael Wiley (Betty), Keith Wiley, and Jack Coombe. Jerry was married for 47 years to the love of his life and best friend, Frances Alcock Wiley. If asked, he would say that he was most proud of his children, Geri Sikes (David), Kevin (Heather), and Aaron (Lacy). Jerry honorably served his country for more than 20 years before retiring from the United States Coast Guard as a Master Chief Petty Officer, and is a graduate of the University of Mobile.
Jerry loved learning and spent countless hours seeking wisdom and knowledge. If you were an early riser, you could catch him at 4:30 in the morning reading anything from the Bible to the Federalist Papers. He found joy in his seven grandchildren, working on the farm, and teaching Sunday school at Trinity United Methodist Church.
Jerry lived a purposeful life, led by example, and impacted everyone who had the benefit of knowing him. Romans 8:38-39
A funeral service for Jerry will be on Tuesday, August 25, 2015, at 12 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 9062 Howells Ferry Road, Semmes, Alabama 36575. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Interment will be at Pine Crest West Cemetery located at 1599 Snow Road, Mobile, Alabama 36695.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be sent to Shriners Hospitals for Children, c/o Sudan Shrine, 403 East Front St., New Bern, N.C. 28560 or Trinity United Methodist Church in Semmes.
