Bill graduated from Murphy High School, Class of 1958. He then attended Clarke College where he earned an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts. After college he served in the U.S. Army, as MP/Criminal Investigator where he served in Germany from 1960-63 during the Berlin Crisis. In 1965, he married Ann (Moore) of Mobile, Al. On August 28, 2022, they celebrated their 57th Wedding Anniversary. Bill had a career in the
insurance industry until he retired from State Farm Insurance in May 2008. He was a deacon and trustee of Cottage Hill Baptist Church. He enjoyed serving his community through his church’s local and national mission trips, Alabama Football, umpiring baseball, boating, gardening, traveling, and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Yvonne and Mary, and brother Woodrow (Gene). Surviving in addition to his wife, Ann (Moore) Howard; sons William Bradley Howard (Tina) and George Scott Howard (Summer); five grandchildren, Rachel Wilson, Rebekah Sluder (Jesse), Grace Mason (Christian), Luke Howard, Lily Howard and greatgrandson, Haeden Sluder; his brother Robert Howard (Brenda); and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Willie will be held Monday, March 6, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Cottage Hill Baptist Church, 4255 Cottage Hill Road, Mobile, AL 36609, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM. Interment will be held immediately following the service in Pine Crest Cemetery, Mobile, AL.
