
Winston N. Whitten, 81, passed away on Monday, January 16, 2017, following years of struggling with Parkinson’s disease. He was predeceased by his son, Mark Whitten; parents, Walter and Alma Whitten; sister, Virginia Weary; and brother, Dick Whitten.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sarah Ruth Whitten; daughter, Loren Whitten; grandchildren, Zachary Denmark, and Mc Dowell; great-grandchild, Piper Denmark; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Mr. Whitten worked for Waller Brothers for over 20 years. Then, he started his own office supply business which he operated for 10 years. He was an expert craftsman in wood working. He willingly shared his knowledge and creations with others. His work involved assisting interior decorators with design and construction projects. He enjoyed being Paw Paw to Zack and Mc, his two grandsons, and thought no one was like them. He loved traveling, Alabama football, and German Shepard dogs. He belonged to the American Purchasing Society.
Visitation for Mr. Whitten will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, January 20, 2017, at Luke 4:18 Fellowship Church, with the funeral service following immediately at 2 p.m.
