Winter Joseph Baynes, beloved husband, father, son, sibling, cousin, and friend, unexpectedly left us on October 22, 2021. He is remembered as a warm and charismatic man with a heart of gold and a one-of-a-kind infectious laugh. Winter cultivated friendships everywhere he went, and it was impossible not to love his winsome, free-spirited, and fun-loving self. Our Winter was unbelievably selfless and present for all, friend or stranger alike, bursting with positive energy and an uncompromising love for everyone around him.
Winter was born on October 19th, 1976 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. As a child, he excelled in both athletics and music, and he continued these passions into adulthood. Winter was an avid snowboarder and an even more fervent and talented drummer. Those who loved him would agree that music lived in his soul, as he would often be seen drumming on any and everything to bring more lightheartedness and joy to those around him. As an adult, Winter was both a passionate businessman as well as a devoted husband and father. He took great pride and care in his landscaping and arbor business, Skywalker Tree Service and Landscaping, but ultimately found his real passion and strength as a family man. The love he felt and exhibited toward his family was unending and all encompassing, which was just the way he wished it to be.
Winter is survived by his mother, Janet Jones Baldwin and his father Larry Baynes, and his loving step father of 35 years Wayne Alembert Baldwin; also by his in-laws, Merry-Beth Agans and Dave Agans and Kathy Brown and Perry Brown and his brother-in Law, Christopher Brown. He is survived by his beloved wife of 10 years, Libby Baynes, his daughters Lila Ellen Baynes and Londyn Jayne, and by his son Phoenix Bancroft Baynes; also by his siblings, Chris Spies and wife Heather Spies, Lem Michael Baldwin and wife Amy Baldwin, and sisters Melissa Baldwin Forness and Jillian Claire Baldwin, and his step sisters Sara Cortes and Madeleine Cortes and by his uncle, Lee Baynes and wife Christin; his aunts, Joyce Jones Martin, Linda Jones Moore, and Sandy Jones Drummond; his cousins, Abby Baynes Butler, Erin Baynes, Carrie Baynes Manning, Meghan Baynes Brewer, Will Baynes, Caroline Baynes and Pierson Baynes, Melissa Moore Francis, Brooke Martin Ferri, Blake Martin, MD, Clarke Drummond and Kate Drummond. He is preceded in death by his grandmothers and grandfathers who loved and adored him, Joyce Baynes and Bob Baynes, his devoted Maw, Lila K. Jones and Big Daddy, Joseph B. Jones and his Uncle Bobby Baynes.
