Dr. Cynthia Palabrica Balleza passed away peacefully on October 27, 2025. Born on November 6, 1938 in Dingle, Iloilo, Philippines, the youngest of eight children of Francisca and Rufino Palabrica, she earned her medical degree from Far Eastern University Institute of Medicine in Manila. In 1970, she and her husband, Dr. Pedro E. Balleza, began a new life in the United States, where they raised five children. She specialized in pediatrics and devoted much of her career to the Elizabeth Ludeman Developmental Center in Park Forest, Illinois, caring for residents with compassion and exceptional skill.
She is survived by her husband, Pedro; children Christine (Ken), Dynee (Barney), Scarlett (Colin), Max, and Ginette (Robert); grandchildren Kate, Anna, Morgan, Jordan, Blair, Gordon, Lucinda, Robert, and Skye; and her sister, Teresina Guzman.
