Darlene A. Hefner

Darlene Ann Hefner, age 93, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, February 22, 2025. She is survived by her loving children: Steve D. (Debbie) Hefner, Teresa (Richard) Viebach-Gaston, Carol (late Mike) Muehe, Tom ( Late Angie) Hefner, Dennis (Nicki) Hefner, Daniel (late Diane) Hefner, Lauretta (Ronald) Graska, David (Kim) Hefner and Darren (Shannon) Hefner; grandmother of 36; great grandmother of 48 and great great grandmother of 10; and daughter-in-law, Joanne Hefner.

Preceded in death by her parents: Emil and Susan Hassing; husband, Fred Hefner, Sr.; children: Fred Hefner, Jr., Tim Hefner and Bill Hefner; sisters: Dorothy Adams and Dolores Ferrie.

Darlene was an extraordinary woman who lived a full life. She was a Girl Scout in her early years and throughout high school. Darlene was a loving and devoted mother of 12. While raising her children, she decided to pursue a career in nursing from which she retired. Darlene was a proud member of Mensa and was a talented artist and poet. She loved butterflies, adventure and traveling the world. Later in life, Darlene decided to take up hand gliding as a hobby. Darlene will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A Memorial Gathering for Darlene will be held Monday, March 3, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Skyline Funeral Home (24800 S. Governors Hwy., Monee, IL) with a Memorial Service beginning at 2:00 P.M. Rev. Thomas Milota officiating. Inurnment to follow at Skyline Memorial Park. For information please call 708-534-8256.
