

Don “Mac” McEntire, 83, of Matteson, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2025. A beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Mac leaves behind a legacy of service, passion, and kindness that will be cherished by all who knew him.
Born to Don and Adeline McEntire, Mac grew up with a deep sense of duty and adventure. He proudly served as a Vietnam Veteran in the U.S. Army, demonstrating courage and commitment. An avid aviator, Mac’s love for flying defined much of his life, as he soared through the skies as a skilled pilot. Professionally, he dedicated years as an electrician with IBEW Local 134.
Mac’s warmth extended to his love for animals, particularly his faithful companion, Murphy.
He is survived by his daughter, Shana Campbell; son, Brig Campbell; grandson, Nolan; sisters, Carol (Jim) Logan and Kay (Jack) Lund; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cherished friends. Mac was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Adeline McEntire, and his beloved daughter, Nicole McEntire.
A Memorial Gathering to celebrate Mac’s life will be held on Sunday, July 20, 2025, from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at Skyline Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 24800 S. Governors Hwy., Monee, IL. Interment will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Mac’s memory to the ASPCA (ASPCA.ORG), reflecting his deep love for animals.
Mac’s memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched, soaring forever in the skies he loved.
