George L. Shelton, age 97, of Olympia Fields, IL, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2025. He is survived by his loving children: Randy (Jan) Shelton, Greg (Maureen) Shelton and Sandy Bosca; cherished grandchildren: Nick, Dawn (James), Christopher, Lynnsey, Brittany, and Zachary; proud great grandfather of Abel, Ben, Emily and Cooper.
Preceded in death by his parents: Louis and Martha Shelton; wife of 54 years, Sarah Shelton and second wife, Lorraine Hensley.
George was a devout Christian. His wife Sarah and their children have blessed memories of the times that were at the Chicago Heights Church of the Nazarene. Always in Church Sunday morning, Sunday night, prayer evenings and Wednesday evenings. The Church was the center of their lives and loved being there. George was in WWII and Korean Wars, Army and Navy. Met his wife, Sarah, when he was stationed in Ft. Sam Houston in Texas. They were married 54 years until her death. George was an avid golfer and bowler and even bowled for the Army and traveled all over the nation. George’s career was with ComEd for more than 30 years.
A Memorial Gathering will take place on Monday, August 11, 2025, from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at Skyline Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 24800 S. Governors Hwy., Monee, IL) with a Memorial Service beginning at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Jamie Deuser officiating. Inurnment Skyline Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org)
