Gordon R. Sharkey, Sr., age 74, of Crown Point, IN, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, September 15, 2024. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Donna; proud father of Bradley (Amanda) Fleck, Gordon (Amy) Sharkey, Jr., Candace (Timothy) McCoy and Joan (Daniel) Draves; cherished grandchildren: Nicole, Gordon III, Jacob, Alyssa, Tyler, Samuel, Amanda, Chris, Zackary, Camden and Zoe; numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Gordon is survived by a brother, Michael Sharkey, of Tennessee. Preceded in death by his parents: Harold and Ina Sharkey and a beloved sister, Sharon Blair.
Gordon was a Vietnam War Vet who proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.
Gordon attended and supported all basketball, baseball, football, softball and wrestling events of the grandkids. Many fields and gymnasiums still hear the echo of his voice. He also loved his church, Living Creek Christian and all the caring people there. He was truly a loving husband, dad and grandpa and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Memorial Gathering will take place on Saturday, September 28, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Skyline Funeral Home and Memorial Park (24800 S. Governors Hwy., Monee, IL). A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will begin at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Randy Roberts officiating. An Inurnment with Military Honors at Skyline Cemetery will follow.
