John M. McGeoghegan

John M. McGeoghegan, age 77, of Peotone, IL, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2026. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Mary H. McGeoghegan; his children, John (Bridget) McGeoghegan and Patricia McGeoghegan; grandchildren Kyla S. Turner and Colin McGeoghegan; and his sister, Kathryn (James) Zygutis. He will also be deeply missed by many dear family members and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Kathryn McGeoghegan; his sisters, Virginia (Frank) Forbes and Diane Hickey; and his aunt, Mary O’Donnell.

A proud veteran, John served his country in the U.S. Army. He later retired from the University of Illinois-Chicago, where he worked as an electrician in telecommunications. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, and camping. Above all, he cherished time spent with his dogs and family out in nature.

Military Honors will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL. Skyline Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. For more information, please call 708-534-8256.
