Josephine D. Escobedo

Josephine D. Escobedo, age 89, of Cedar Lake, IN, former longtime resident of Steger, Illinois, passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by family on Monday, January 6, 2025. She is survived by her loving children: Yolanda (Luis) Solarte, Daniel Escobedo, Julie O’Banion, Patricia (Bill) Ingersoll and Bonita (Rene) Alcantar; cherished grandchildren: Joshua (Jeannine) Escobedo, Travis Escobedo, Daniel Schoiber, Alexander Escobedo, Richard (Kimmy) O’Banion, James (Amanda) Ingersoll, Kristopher (Angelica) Ingersoll, Heliodoro Alcantar and Celestina Alcantar; adored great grandchildren: Lauren and Samuel Escobedo, Kiely and Patrick O’Banion, Rowan, Addison and Nikolai Ingersoll; dear sister Amelia Nunez; sisters-in-law: Delores De La Rosa, and Ramona De La Rosa. Josephine is also survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Preceded in death by her parents: Jesus and Macrina De La Rosa; siblings: Carmen (Raymond) Gayton, Ralph De La Rosa, Mary (Juan) Garza and Raymond De La Rosa; brother-in-law, Ramon Nunez.

Josephine worked for Prairie State College, Bloom Trail High School and retired from Bloom High School. Josephine was a very strong, independent woman. Always there to provide wisdom, and a solid foundation for her family. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

A Memorial Service will take place on Friday, January 17, 2025 , 11:00 A.M at Skyline Funeral Home and Memorial Park (24800 S. Governors Hwy., Monee, IL). Rev. Gregory Skowron officiating.
