Bill was the middle child of the family. He attended Thornton High School in Harvey, IL, where he met Denise Lindberg at age 14 in their high school band class—Bill played the trumpet and Denise played the oboe. In their sophomore year, Bill and Denise began dating and quickly became best friends. Both were part of the same graduating class. After graduation, Bill became a stationary engineer in Chicago, while Denise attended college and became a nurse. They married on September 18, 1976, and were blessed with a son, Paul Christopher Redman, on November 28, 1983.
Life and Career
Bill dedicated 45 years of his career as an operating engineer in downtown Chicago, a profession he truly enjoyed and took great pride in. His work was a significant part of his life. Outside of work, Bill found happiness at his summer homes in Monticello on Lake Shafer, where he enjoyed spending days on the lake boating, jet skiing, water skiing, tubing fishing, gardening with Denise, having bonfires with family and friends, and playing bags, horseshoes, and board games with Paul, Denise, and friends. He was passionate about working on cars, making model airplanes, doing crossword puzzles, and attended the Indy 500 car races in Indianapolis for many years with his son Paul, co-workers, brother-in-laws, nephews, and family friends. Bill was an avid viewer of Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, making these shows a daily ritual. Most of all, he cherished spending quality time with Denise, Paul, and many friends and family in the Crete and Monticello communities.
