Alan B. DelFavero, age 84, and a long-time resident of Monroe, passed away early in the morning on November 23, 2025, after battling a long-term illness.
Born in Bridgeport, he was the son of the late Louis and Thelma DelFavero. He attended Bridgeport Public Schools and Bullard Havens Technical School. He began his career as a carpenter when he was a teenager. Alan first worked with his father, Louis, who was a home builder in the Bridgeport area.
Alan later joined Union Carpenters Local 99, in Bridgeport, in 1964. Throughout his long career, he worked on many large construction projects and was a shop steward on numerous jobs. He also served as a Delegate and a Trustee for Union Carpenters Local 210 until he officially retired in 2014. He was a Carpenters Union member, in good standing, for over 60 years. Alan was respected by all who he worked for and with.
In addition, he was the Founder and President of the Monroe Street Rodders Car Club and held a weekly “car cruise,” each summer, at Bills Drive-In in Monroe, for a number of years. Alan was also an avid New York Yankees Fan and told everyone he was at Yankee Stadium the day Mickey Mantle retired. Additionally, he loved the outdoors. He spent many years planting Christmas Trees and growing a large vegetable garden, of which he was immensely proud of. Alan will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
He is survived by his cherished and loving wife of 53 years, Marie (Fiumora) DelFavero of Monroe, and his son, Dr. Alan L. DelFavero of Monroe, who was his pride and joy. He is also survived by his nephew and niece-in-law, Alan and Ellen Mozzi of Stratford, niece, Alane Orsino of Monroe, great-nephew, Michael Mozzi of Stratford (who was his “side-kick”), great-niece and her husband, Suzanne and Bret Deeb of Windsor, sister, Margaret Facto of Newtown, sister-in-law, Linda Fiumora of Milford, and several other nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Thelma DelFavero of Bridgeport, sister and brother-in law, Carol and John Mozzi of Monroe, and brother August DelFavero of Bridgeport.
