

Born on November 11, 1934, in Hollandale, MS, Alveta was the daughter of Eddie and Willie Mae Jordan. She graduated from Leland High School in Leland, MS in 1952. She was employed at People’s Bank in Monroe, CT, where she worked as a teller and then later as a customer service representative before retiring in 1994. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed gardening and painting as hobbies. Alveta will be remembered for her kindness and generosity; and love of God, her country, and her family. She is survived by her sons Gerald Alena, Jr. and Todd Alena; grandchildren Jordan, Jillian, and Kathryn Alena; her brother Dr. Tommy Jordan and sisters Catherine Pike and Linda Werlein; and several nieces and nephews.
Alveta was predeceased by her parents Eddie and Willia Mae Jordan; her first husband Gerald Alena; her second husband Col. Robert Decker, USAF (Ret.) ; her brothers Malcolm and Rodger Jordan, and her sister Dorothy Briggs. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Nana Konadu, Alveta’s devoted caregiver over the past seven years. Nana cared so much for Alveta during her time with her.
Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Monday January 12th from 4 pm to 7 pm at Spadaccino & Leo Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT 06468. Funeral service to be celebrated January 13th at 10 a.m. at the same location. Interment to immediately follow at Cutlers Farm and Elm Street Cemetery, 331 Cross Hill Road, Monroe, CT.
