Art was born in Bridgeport, CT to Frank and Mary James on January 14, 1943. He graduated from Harding High School in Bridgeport.
He married Maria, his wife of almost 43 years, on August 27, 1983. Art was employed by Stop & Shop for more than 20 years as a bakery manager, and after retiring, he became a part time school bus driver for Naugatuck, a job he loved dearly for about 8 years.
He was a loving, kind man, who enjoyed travelling and the game of golf was his passion Art was also quite the pool player.
He was predeceased by his brothers Ray and Frank and his sister, Shirley Jackson. Art is survived by his wife Maria James, sister Mary Ellen Alfano, son Arthur James, grandson Thomas, granddaughter Christina Griffin, great-granddaughter Alara and great-grandson Sean, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Friday, August 7, 2026 from 12:30 to 3:30 at Spadaccino & Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe, Turnpike, Monroe, CT 06468. Spiritual Service and 2:30pm.
