Barbara L. Vance

Vance, Barbara, age 68, of Shelton, Ct, beloved mother and grandmother entered into eternal rest on August 3, 2012, after a short battle with cancer and other complications. Born in Upper Darby, PA on November 13, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Marion Bennett Litts. She was a Shelton and Bridgeport resident since 1950. Ms. Vance graduated from Warren Harding High School, attended the University of Bridgeport and the Institute of Banking. Additionally, she gave seminars on Retirement Planning at Housatonic Community College for several years.

Ms. Vance was a retired employee of People's United Bank with over 31 years of Service. she held various positions during those years, retiring as an Employee benefits program manager. After her retirement, she volunteered at Bridgeport Hospital and enjoyed her time with her grandchildren and her dog Toby.

Survivors include her much loved daughters and son-in-law, Karolyn and Edward Squibb and Jennifer and Mark Chiarantano, her dearly loved and most precious grandsons who were the light of her life, Kyle, Erik, and Sean Squibb and Zachary Chiarantano. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Julie Lavitola, nieces Robin Rivera, Wendy Richard and nephew John Litts and their families. Also, sister-in-law Pat Litts and several dear friends. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her brother John H. Litts.

Family and friends are invited to attend visitation on Monday, August 6, 2012 from 4-8 pm at The Spadaccino & Leo P. Gallagher Funeral Home 315 Monroe Tpk Monroe Tpk.
