Bonnie Protsko

Born in Bridgeport, CT on November 4, 1942, she was the daughter of William and Anne Wallat. She graduated from Stratford High School. She was last employed at Easton Police Department and worked as the Records Clerk. She is fondly remembered by the many officers she worked with over the span of 27 years.

She was a member of the Monroe EMS since 1979 as an EMT, an instructor, a past member of the Training Committee, a past member of the Board of Directors, a fundraiser organizer for training mannequins and a longtime coordinator of the Sunshine Committee. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and bird watching. She will be remembered for her devotion to her husband and her fierce love for her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Larry Protsko, her brother Bill Wallat, her children: Deanna Dunning, Dennis Protsko (Dana), Kenneth Protsko (Terri), Carolynn Protsko and her grandchildren: Kyle Protsko, Haley Dunning (Anna), Elise Dunning, Andrew Dunning, Lindsay Protsko, Owen Protsko, Mason Cartwright, and Savannah Pattillo, sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents William and Anne Wallat, her in-laws Joseph and Helen Protsko, and her son-in-law Fred Dunning.

The family would like to thank the St. Vincent’s CHF Clinic, The Monroe Senior Center Transportation Coordinator and drivers, the Swim Across the Sound and the doctors and nurses at St. Vincent’s 6-South who cared for Bonnie with compassion in her last weeks.

Friends are invited to calling hours Thursday, June 23, 4pm-7pm at Spadaccino & Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT 06468. Funeral Mass to celebrated Friday, June 24 at 10am at St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church, 6948 Main Street, Trumbull. Interment will be private. In honor of Bonnie’s love for bright, happy colors, the family respectfully asks that all attendees of her services choose bright, happy and colorful clothing rather than black. Thank you.
