

Brenda Mary Pekar, age 75, a long-time resident of Monroe, passed peacefully amidst her family at home, on January 3,2014. She was born on October 27, 1938 in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and was the beloved daughter of Mildred Adams and beloved sister of June Girard. She is predeceased by her brother Ronald Adamowicz. Brenda was happily married on February 19, 1955 in Bridgeport to her husband, Alexander Joseph Pekar Sr. A Bassick high school graduate, Brenda has spent 43 years living here in Monroe after her move from Bridgeport. A retired employee from Vitramon Inc., Brenda enjoyed her time traveling, especially her cruises to Alaska with her family. She enjoyed playing bingo and being a member of the conistory at the First United Church of Christ in Bridgeport. She leaves behind not only her loving husband Alexander Sr., but her children; Alexander Pekar Jr. and Darlene Lesiw of Beacon Falls, CT, John and Rosemarie Pekar of Bridgeport, CT, Robert and Cecilia Pekar of Fort Meyers, FL, Susan Pekar of Newbury Park, CA, and Carol and John Ogrinc of Monroe, CT. Followed by her grandchildren; Alexander J. Pekar III, Steven Pekar, Kelly Maxim, Christine Pekar, Kate Pekar, Robert Pekar, Susan Pekar, Matthew Pekar, Christopher Ogrinc, Zachary Ogrinc, Laura Pekar, Andrew Pekar along with seven great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and many close friends.
