

Carl William (Bill) Holmsten, age 87, of Wallingford, CT and Westbrook, CT, passed from this Earth and entered his Spiritual Home on, Tuesday, January 28, 2014. He was a son of the late Axel and Charlotte Holmsten. Born in Brooklyn, NY on January 13, 1927, he was a retired sales executive for the National Filter Media Corporation. He is survived by his wife Jane Young Holmsten, his wife of 65 years. He is also survived by his daughter Holly Marini and her husband Larry of Monroe, CT., granddaughter Charlotte Marini Laput and her husband Steve of Southington, CT., grandson John Marini and his wife Kris of Burlington, VT. He is also survived by a great granddaughter, nieces and nephews. Bill proudly served his country during World War II, enlisting in the United States Navy and served on the USS St. Paul, in the Pacific theater. He witnessed the surrender of Japan in Tokyo Bay and later served with the peace keeping forces in China. He was a life long member of the Fraternal Order of Masons. An avid golfer, Bill loved the many rounds he played with family and friends. He enjoyed furniture refinishing and most of all engaging in conversation with you. He enjoyed people.
