Christian Ferris Rakoczy, longtime resident of Trumbull, CT passed away on June 9, 2021. He was 21 years old.

Born in Bridgeport, CT, he was the son of Stefanie and Greg Rakoczy. Christian was baptized at St. Catherine Catholic Church, and raised and confirmed at Nichols United Methodist Church. As his name suggests he was a Christian, he had a genuine connection with Christ and would willingly join his grandfather (Pee Paw) at Men’s Bible Study and would enthusiastically share his view in discussions. His outgoing personality, hard work ethic, and his passion for all people continued to develop as he began a lifeguarding job on his 16th birthday. He especially enjoyed supporting the special-needs swimmers

He attended Aquaculture School and Trumbull High School and graduated in 2017. Christian went to Central Connecticut State University for two years and received an HVAC Certificate from Lincoln Tech. But his greatest schooling was at Speed Demon Cycles & Towing in Bloomfield, CT. He began his apprenticeship in May 2020 under the mentorship of Rob Ruggiero and Eric Eckman and loved every single minute. He started out sweeping floors and quickly turned into a knowledgeable and respected motorcycle mechanic.

Christian participated in Little League Baseball and Tai Kwon Do, earning his second Dan Black Belt. Christian was a longtime Boy Scout, earning the highest rank of Eagle Scout and enjoyed camping all year long. He went camping with his Dad just recently. He had the utmost respect for Veterans and thanked them for their service since he could talk. Christian and his Mom shared a passion for Legos, he most recently gave her a Statue of Liberty Lego kit, which they built together.

Christian was a four-year member of Trumbull High School Golden Eagle Marching Band, with a National Title won his senior year. Christian loved to travel and took school trips to both Italy and Spain. He couldn’t wait to visit every state in America. Christian’s greatest passion was building things with his hands. This started when he built tunnels with his Pee Paw in the sandbox and helped his grandfather (Dziadziu) fix things around the house. His building moved onto fixing his car and rebuilding his motorcycle to have the “cool factor”.

Christian is survived by his parents Greg and Stefanie Rakoczy, sisters Valerie and Bridget Rakoczy, and his dog, Lola. He also leaves behind grandparents Barbara and Teddy Rakoczy of Port Chester, NY, and Robin Berg Sr. of Hudson, WI. Uncles and aunts Andy (Joanie Lyons) Rakoczy of Charlestown, RI, Robin (Julie) Berg Jr. of Chanhassen, MN, Tim (Rebecca) Berg of Danville, CA, and cousins Caleb and Elijah Berg.

Christian is predeceased by his grandmother Mary Ann (Mickey) Berg and his dog, Roz.

He also leaves behind many friends of all ages.

We were so saddened by this news and we are heartbroken for the entire Rakoczy family. Logan was in the band with Christian and remembers what a great kid he was. Know that you are in our thoughts and prayers and we pray that all your beautiful memories together will see you through your grief until you can be together again. What a wonderful tribute video to Christian. Truly depicts what a wonderful life you shared with him. ❤️

Christian was a best friend to my brother, Eric, since they were both five years old. My brother has a beautiful quiet introspective nature to him and Christian so perfectly countered that with his outgoing and passionate spirit. It was a honor to be a bystander as he grew from an excited and full of life child to a dedicated, loyal, happy and energized young man. A few weeks ago I got to see Christian for the first time in a few years when he came to my parents house. He greeted me, my husband and my 8 month old son with a hug and a beautiful conversation. He told me how happy he was over and over again. He meant it. He had us all smiling and laughing, like he always did throughout the years. He had a spark, I guess we could call it. A spark in him that ignited happiness and excitement in everyone around him. I hope I can raise my son to have a similar quality about him. Making friends wherever he goes, leaving people smiling and laughing, living his genuinely happy life to the fullest. Christian, your light will be sorely missed. I promise to never forget it.

I will never forget the way Christian was always able to make everyone in the room break down from laughing so hard. He was someone to look up to as an underclassmen in high school and someone who was always willing to be a friend. He will be missed by all.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Christian during high school. He was always quick to make a witty joke, and was always enjoyable to talk with. I'm sure his radiance was felt by anyone that had the pleasure to interact with him. He will be sorely missed. ❤
