It is with deep regret that the family of Christopher Charles Canfield announces the death of their beloved son and brother, who suddenly passed away on May 28th, 2018 in Pompano Beach, FL at the age of 31.
Christopher was born July 10, 1986 to Charles G. Canfield Jr and Lea M. Benvenuti. Chris or otherwise fondly known as Tubesox, Topher, Tiss, and Spudly. grew up in Newtown, CT where he attended Saint Rose of Lima as a youth and graduated from Newtown High School in 2004. Growing up he had a passion for art, cooking, motor sports, the beach, and his family. He graduated from The New England Center of Culinary Arts in 2006 with high regards from his peers and glowing recommendations.
Chris thrived in the fast pace restaurant atmosphere and cultivated numerous hobbies throughout his life. In his spare time Chris could be found tattooing or being tattooed, fishing, riding his motorcycle, sending funny pictures & videos to friends and family, creating meals, or just spending time with those he cherished.
Chris’ sense of humor was something that can’t even be put into words and he lit up the room with his big brown eyes and infectious laugh. After working in Boston as a Chef for a few years Chris moved to Florida in 2010 to take advantage of his zest for life and to be able to ride his motorcycle year round. Chris took annual fishing charters with his father who spent the majority of the winter with him in Florida, had many memories on Martha’s Vineyard, and called his mother and siblings weekly just to say “hey”. The echo of his laughter is something that will not soon be forgotten.
Chris is predeceased by his paternal grandparents Charles Sr and Hattie Canfield; maternal grandfather E. James Benvenuti. Chris is survived by his mother Lea Benvenuti, father Charles Canfield Jr, brothers Ethan and Sean and sister Emma. Grandmother Fran Surles, Uncle John Benvenuti, Aunts Tricia Mathison, Lina Canfield, Patricia Canfield, First cousins James and Alexandra Benvenuti, Terry Rooney and wife Nadine, Mardele Lorenson and husband Matt, and a multitude of second cousins.
A memorial gathering will be held to celebrate his life on June 9th from 2-4 at Spadaccino & Leo P. Gallagher and Son Community Funeral Home 315 Monroe Turnpike Monroe, CT 06468. A Memorial Mass will take place at by Saint Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church in Newtown, CT at a later date and will be announced accordingly.
