
Sister Doris Marie Deane, passed away suddenly on February 4, 2015. Doris Marie was born in New York, New York, one of four children born to Maud and Joseph Wetzel. Upon graduation from elementary school, Doris Marie entered Blessed Sacrament High School graduating in June of 1952. Three years later she married Eugene Deane on July 16, 1955 to whom she remained married until his death on November 13, 1983. Doris Marie worked as a chemist at Barden’s in Danbury, CT and also volunteered at the now John Paul II Care and Rehabilitation Center in Danbury, CT. It was here that Doris first became acquainted with the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth through several sisters who worked there. On February 1, 1987 Doris Marie entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth. Through 28 years in religious life, Doris Marie served as Pastoral Care Chaplain at Bridgeport Hospital and St. Vincent’s Hospital in Connecticut and Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Sayville, NY. She is survived by her nieces June Rose and Maria Bonilla, grandniece April Ann and grandnephews Michael and Edward.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 14th, 2015 at 11am at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Convent, Monroe. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery, Monroe.
