Ed was born in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania on September 24, 1966, to Edward J. & Anna Mae (Keenan) Higgins, who predeceased him.
He is survived by his wife of almost 35 years, Kelly (Tymon) Higgins. His pride and joy were his children, Edward Jr. of New Hampshire, Thomas and wife Alicia of Newtown, Daniel of Bethel, Patrick of Bethel & Brendan of Easton. He is also survived by his siblings, Michael Higgins & his wife Annette of Milton, Georgia, Brian Higgins and his wife Molly of New Canaan, and Kathleen Sweeney and husband Michael of New Canaan as well as mother-in-law, Ann Tymon, and brothers-in-law, Robert Tymon and Mark Tymon and wife Jana Kantor plus a very large extended family of cousins, nieces & nephews.
A 1985 graduate of Stamford High School, Ed was a carpenter, general contractor and roofer by trade. He was the owner of Ridgetop Roofing & Siding which later became Ridgetop Construction. After starting the business in Stamford, once moving to Easton the business transitioned to the Fairfield area where Ed did remodeling, house flipping & new construction.
He had a core group of lifelong friends and an extensive network of subcontractors who, through the years, also became friends. Known for his dry sense of humor and blunt remarks, it would always be obvious where you stood with him. He loved his dogs, past and present, as well as fishing and vacationing at peaceful places. In recent years, Kelly & Ed made many trips for fishing or to National Parks, including the trip to Montana, when he passed unexpectedly. The most joy was found in spending time with his sons. Whether it be fixing cars, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, or just doing projects in Connecticut or his dream Vermont farm, there will be no regret on the amount of quality time spent together. Ed passed on a tremendous work ethic and tons of life lessons to his sons that will be his legacy.
The family will receive friends & family on Friday, July 3rd, 2026, between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 pm at Spadaccino & Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral, Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, Connecticut, followed by a luncheon to gather and reminisce. Please dress casually.
We are overwhelmed with the outpouring of support received. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The American Heart Association (www.heart.org) or to The Greater Fairfield Board of Realtors Scholarship Fund, 156 Round Hill Road, Fairfield, CT 06824.
