

Born in Bridgeport, CT, he was the son of Lorraine Gombas and Eugene Tornay. He graduated from Andrew Warde H.S. in Fairfield, CT in 1986. Eric held multiple jobs throughout his working career with his longest being with American Cable Electronic Service, LLC for over 25 years. Eric also worked in construction, concrete and did security at multiple local establishments. He enjoyed fishing in Fairfield at Jennings Beach, all sorts of handheld electronics, his Harley and his new-found passion for his Jeep Wrangler.
Eric was a friend of the Cross Fire RC of Norwalk, CT for over 7 years, VP and one of the co-founders of the Freedom Isn’t Free Riding Group, an active member of CERT in Fairfield for 5 years and integral part of the Wonderland at Roseville Christmas event in Fairfield as Santa for the past 3 years. Eric had a heart of gold, a friendly personality and always had time to stop, help and share a story. He always put others before himself. His passion for motorcycles had him part of multiple veteran support rides and poker runs over the span of many years.
Eric is survived by his parents, Lorraine Gombas and Tom Coates (Mother & Significant other) of Monroe, CT and Eugene and Deanna Tornay (Father & Stepmother) of Northport, FL, his children, Kayla Tornay (Daughter) of Wamego, KS and Adam and Hanna-Lynn Tornay (Son & Spouse) of Wamego, KS, his brother, spouse and nieces & nephew, Kevin and Jennifer Tornay of Monroe, CT, Maren Tornay of Manhattan, NY, Nolan Tornay of Naugatuck, CT and Ava Tornay of Monroe, CT. He was the proud grandfather of four granddaughters, Ameria, Tinleigh, Journee and Alesia of Wamego, KS as well.
In following with Eric’s wishes regarding his funeral services, we will be having a Celebration of Life ceremony in the upcoming May timeframe. Thank you for your patience while we coordinate this celebration. Details will be provided shortly.
