Grace A. Ahrens

Grace Amelia Ahrens, longtime resident of Monroe, passed away the morning of February 17, 2021. She was sixty-nine years old.

Grace was born in Quebec City, Canada. She was the daughter of Lillian Sherman Martoccia and William Martoccia, Sr. She is survived by her husband, Andreas Ahrens, and her children, Alexander Ahrens, Christopher Ahrens, and Jacqueline Ahrens.

Grace will be remembered for the love she showed to family and friends, the strength of her will, the depth of her optimism and the sharpness of her sense of humor.

Friends are invited to visit with Grace and her family on February 23, 2021, between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., at Spadaccino & Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT 06468. Grace’s funeral service will be celebrated on February 23, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Jude Parish Church, 707 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT 06468. Her interment at Resurrection Cemetery, 208 South Main Street, Newtown, CT 06470, will immediately follow.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Even though we are far apart, I have never forgotten all the memories Grace made so memorable. I wish I could be there but I always have Grace and her family in my prayers. I wish I could be there by your side like she was there for me for 16 memorable years. She was a very kind and noble women that I am very proud to call my family.
