

Howard J. Saad, age 77, of Stevenson (Monroe) passed away Saturday, May 7th in St. Vincent's Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Saad was born on November 7,1933 in Bridgeport, CT to the late John and Olga Saad. After serving in the army, he worked in Saad's Crossroads, a family owned restaurant. In 1970 he opened Crossroads Marine and Power Center in Stevenson, CT, which he ran until his retirement in 2002. Howard was also the former Chairman of the Lake Zoar Authority and sat on the Board of Directors for the Fairfield County Fish and Game Protective Association. He was also a member of the Newtown Rod and Gun Club. A devoted husband for 46 years, his survivors include his wife Florence, a son Gregory Saad and his wife Michele of Oxford, a daughter Lisa Fedorka and her husband Alex of Oxford, 2 brothers John and Robert Saad of Florida, and a sister Barbara Jean Downs and her husband William of Oxford. Howard leaves five cherished grandchildren, Douglas and Samantha Marino, Gabriella and Julianne Saad and Jocelyn Fedorka, along with several nieces and nephews. Howard was an avid outdoorsman and loved spending time in the woods hunting and fishing with his son and grandson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Wednesday, May 11th at 10:00 AM at St. Jude Church 707 Monroe Turnpike Monroe. Interment will take place in St. Michael Cemetery 2205 Stratford Avenue Stratford. Friends may visit Tuesday May 10th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home 315 Monroe Turnpike in Monroe.
