It is with deep sadness that we announce, after a years-long ailment with Frontotemporal Dementia, the peaceful passing of Jane Marie Horton, 63, of Monroe, Connecticut, on October 3, 2026. A mother, grandmother, and wife, Jane was born in Stamford, Connecticut on November 29, 1962 to Raymond and June (Hanna) Card. She and her husband of 37 years were residents of Monroe since 2007 where Jane enjoyed spending time with family and friends, volunteering her time for animal rescue efforts, and event photography. Always the biggest fan of her three children, Megan, Ryan, and Kyle, Jane could always be found in the audience, in the stands, or on the sidelines cheering words of encouragement. When not spending time with family, Jane volunteered with Rescue Road Warriors transporting shelter animals across the State to approved rescue and adoptive homes. Locally she could be found behind the camera lens at sporting events, road races, and festivals.
A devoted wife, Jane left the confines of Southwestern Connecticut after her marriage to Greg and spent the next 22 years traveling from coast to coast based on Greg’s duty station in the Marine Corps. Being both Mom and Dad during long deployments, Jane’s devotion and selflessness to her family created a bond that strengthened her relationships with both her children and her husband. Always willing to lend a shoulder for friends to lean on, an ear to vent, or a helping hand, Jane made it known that she was available anytime, anywhere. Jane was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and June Card, and brother Raymond G. Card. Jane is survived by her husband Greg Horton, children Megan Storo (Anthony), Ryan Horton (Alyssa), Kyle Horton, grandchildren Emma Storo and Bradley Storo, and sisters Kathy Williamson (Perry) and Marianne Card.
Visitation is Friday, October 16 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dementia Society of America at https://www.dementiasociety.org/.
Funeral services are 10:00 am Saturday, October 17 at Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Monroe.
