Jason Simmons, 77, of Monroe, CT., beloved husband of Susan Simmons, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Sunday, October 11, 2026. Born on August 19, 1949, in Bridgeport, CT, he is predeceased by his parents, John Simmons and Audrey Kraft Simmons, and his sister, Sally Kelly. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 45 years, Susie, and 4 daughters: Carrie Simmons and partner Michael, Jennifer Simmons and husband Robert, Audrey Simmons and husband Eric, and Emily Mangieri and husband Kyle; his siblings Bruce Simmons, William Simmons, and Sybil Avery; and grandchildren Olivia, Charlotte, Matthew, Lily, Luke, Mickey, Gwen, Ruby, and Dora, whom he adored with all his heart. Jason leaves behind a large family, including many cousins, nieces, nephews, and their children.
Jason attended Central High School and later attended UCONN in Stamford pursuing interests in art and photography. He later attended Porter and Chester Institute where he obtained a degree in Fire Protection. After working in the Fire Protection Industry for several years, he successfully established his own business, Monroe Fire Protection Design & Drafting for over 30 years.
Jason was a compassionate, kind, funny, intelligent person, and free spirit who carried himself with grace and dignity, and did not dwell on negativity. His calm demeanor attracted people to him. One could feel his positive vibes and that it was a privilege to be in his presence. Jason loved music and would spend time with his family listening to albums, attending concerts, and learning about bass guitar. He was so capable of building anything and when complimented, he would say, "I read how to do it in a book." A couple of his favorite phrases included, "I have to go to Home Depot," and " Would you like something to eat?" He enjoyed cooking soup, baking bread, and making pancakes for his daughters on a Sunday morning. He always wanted to be sure his girls were okay and would take the time to talk to them and listen. He had a sharp wit which would make everyone laugh until they cried. He taught his children and grandchildren to be good people: To be kind, treat others as you would want to be treated, believe in yourself, and pursue your dreams. He introduced his girls to art museums and trips to New York City. Jason adored his grandchildren, and nothing made him happier than to spend time playing with them and hearing their laughter as he made goofy faces.
Jason will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Love is the answer. Vavavavoom!
His family will receive friends on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 11 a.m.- 12 p.m., with a funeral service beginning at 12 pm at the Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Tpke., Monroe, CT
