
Son of the late Natale and Mary Josephine Amentola Cacciola he was born on April 11th, 1939 in the North End section of Boston. His family moved to Roxbury, Massachusetts where he lived for 28 years and was a member of the Roxbury Rebels. He moved with his family to Monroe, Connecticut in January, 1979.
Joe was a 1957 graduate of The Christopher Columbus High School in Boston where he played varsity football for 4 years and was co-captain of the team his senior year. He was selected to the 1956 All-Catholic Football Team.
He graduated from Boston College in 1962 where on a walk-on he made the varsity team. A kidney injury ended his collegiate career before he could play a game.
In the early 1980's he was a Eucharistic Minister at Saint Jude Church in Monroe.
He worked for IBM for 30 years in various positions in Boston and Waltham Mass, Philadelphia PA, and Westport, Greenwich, Stamford, and Milford CT.
Joe took early retirement in July, 1993 then spent 3 years working for Clearwaters Restaurant in Monroe, CT. He retired and spent the remaining years of his life enjoying time with his family and especially his grandchildren.
He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, father-in-law, and uncle.
His survivors include his loving daughter Michele Ann Wisentaner and her husband Douglas James of Monroe, CT. A dedicated son Joseph Gerard Cacciola and his wife Julie Ann of Ashburn, VA. His grandchildren Douglas and Michael Wisentaner of Monroe, CT, and his grandaughter Nina of Ashburn Virginia and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his loving Uncle Biaggio (Billy) Cacciola his sisters Catherine (Lena) Trevisone, Nancy, and Mary Ann Cacciola, brothers Sal, Ralph, Anthony, and Blaise (Billy).
May he be reunited with his beloved wife Dolores and his beloved family.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 4th at 10am in Saint Jude Church, 707 Monroe Turnpike. Interment will follow in Monroe Center Cemetery Monroe, CT. Friends and family may call on Friday, February 3rd from 4pm-8pm in the Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher and Son Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe.
