Born in Introdacqua L’Aquila, Italy on March 8th, 1935. She was the daughter of the late Cesidio and Floria Maria (Giammarco) DeAngelis.
Josephine was most happy when she was surrounded by her loving family. She was very proud of her Italian heritage and joyfully passed it on by maintaining old traditions, cuisine, and countless stories of her days growing up in her “little town Introdacqua.” She treasured when everyone was together, never wanting to miss a family gathering with all the grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins and making pizzelle for every party.
Her commitment to her weekly Bible study, faithful regimen of tending to her prayers, and genuine compassion for others undoubtedly showed how important her faith was to her. She was known by her peers as the “prayer warrior.”
For 7 years she taught CCD (religious education), and she volunteered at Saint Joseph’s Manor for 10 years, bringing compassion, encouragement and the gospel to the elderly.
She also taught Sunday school for 2 years at Beacon Hill Evangelical.
Josephine always wanted everyone to get along. Telling her children and grandchildren to forgive one another and to stay close to each other because family is very important.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband Giuseppe Tartaglia, her brother, Emilio DeAngelis, her sister Anna Tartaglia and her son-in-law Kambiz Najafzadeh.
Josephine is survived by her 3 children. Anna Maria Najafzadeh and Nick Khamarji, Joey and his wife Kristina Tartaglia, Bobby and his wife Ceil Tartaglia, her loving grandchildren Gina (Michael), Bobby (Michelle), Alana (John), Brittany (Nick), Nicandra (Gino), Matthew (Britney), Joseph Paul and Joseph Karl, 12 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and cousins in Canada and Italy.
Josephine's family would like to thank Ilene and Floria for the loving care they provided to her. We will be forever grateful to you both.
