

Karla was born in Gransee, East Germany to Marie and Berthold Fritz on September 3rd, 1940. She married Albert Armitage in September 1967 in Westport, CT. After reaching West Berlin she graduated from University of Berlin, and later emigrated to the United States. Karla worked for many years with flowers and plants, helping others design and improve spaces and gardens. She was owner of Monroe Turnpike Nursery and Florist and continued her career with other area nurseries and as a private gardening consultant. Her ability to understand plants and people continues on in the spaces she made beautiful.
Karla is survived by Albert Armitage, her brother Udo Fritz, her niece Connie, her son Daniel and his wife Susanne, her son Albert Anthony Jr. (Tony) and his wife Ali, and her grandchildren, Maia, Sonjia, Samuel, Hadley and Reese.
Calling hours will be on June 2nd, 2025 from 4- 7 pm at Spadaccino Funeral Home at 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT. Private Burial will be at St. John’s Cemetery in Monroe.
