

Kenneth David Higgins, age 83, passed away peacefully after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease on January 27, 2012 at The Jewish Home for the Elderly in Fairfield, CT surrounded by his loving wife Beverly and daughter Terri. In addition to Beverly his beloved wife of 60 years, of Monroe, CT, Ken will be remembered by his family including daughters BonnieLee Mangano of Pembroke Pines, FL, and Terri Higgins of Monroe, CT, sons David Higgins and life partner Laura Collins of Clinton, CT, John Higgins and his wife Francine of Stratford, CT, grandchildren Melissa Dymerski and husband Jeffery, Elizabeth Binette and husband Donny, Tamara Mangano and partner Ray Lussier, Dr. Anthony Mangano, Dana Esposito and husband Ross, Danielle Diaz, Rebecca Higgins, Janice Santanelli and husband James, Stanley Backiel, great grandchildren Max, Rose and Sam Dymerski, Anthony, Olivia and Michael Mangano, brother-in-law Blair Brown and wife Pat of Brunswick, Maine , nephew Kert Brown and wife Amy, nieces Yvette Alexander and husband Lendall of Harpswell, Maine, Lori York and husband Stephen of Litchfield, Maine, cousin Joyce Baus and husband Daniel of Stratford, CT.
Ken was born May 23, 1928 to Percy and Daisy Higgins, raised in Bridgeport, CT, graduated from Central High School, and attended the University of Bridgeport, CT for his Engineering background. He resided in Monroe, CT most of his life.
Ken worked for many years as a Manufacturing Engineer and retired from Risdon Corporation, of Danbury, CT.
Kenneth was a devoted husband and father who expressed great pride for his entire family. He remained active in his earlier years of retirement pursuing his interests in gardening and photography and often vacationed at Cape Cod to enjoy the peace and tranquility of the sea. He supported his photography hobby by maintaining Photographically Yours, a digital photo retouching and restoration business which also offered darkroom rental and instructions. He enjoyed sports and was an avid Yankees and Giants fan.
Ken will be deeply missed by family friends. Calling hours will be Saturday, February 4, 2012 from 9:00am-9:30am at Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated directly after at St. Jude’s Church, 707 Monroe Turnpike at 10am with internment to follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Stratford.
