Luciano "Lucky" Cavalcante died peacefully at home on July 23, 2020 at the age of 65.

Lucky is survived by his wife, Rhonda; children, Scott, Carly, and Dana; his sister, Karen Kleinegger, her husband Steve and their daughter Nicole of Chester, NY and his step brother Hanz Weber; His sister-in-law Denise and their children Ali and Caroline. He is preceded in death by his mother, Yara Weber.

Lucky was born on March 22, 1955 in Brazil. As a teenager, he moved to Stamford, CT and graduated from Westhill High School in Stamford in 1974. He later exhibited his love for the city by graduating from the police academy and becoming a member of the Stamford Police Department. Lucky served as a Stamford police officer for over 20 years. Being a police officer was Lucky's heart and soul; he loved nothing more than to share stories from his years on the job, and catching up with buddies from the department.

In Lucky's spare time, he enjoyed planting vegetables in his garden and working on miscellaneous projects throughout the house. Lucky also found a big joy in cooking, making sure everyone left his home with a full stomach. He also loved to spend time trying out new restaurants with family and friends and would use any excuse to go out to eat. Lucky would give the shirt off his back to anyone he met and made everyone feel like family.

Friends and family are invited to calling hours Thursday, July 30th from 4:00pm-8:00pm at Spadaccino & Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT 06468. Please adhere to Covid guidelines and wear a mask upon arrival.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial donation to an animal rescue of your choice, as Lucky was a tremendous animal lover.

Dear Rhonda,
I was fortunate enough to have rented an apartment from Lucky's mom and even taught his sister Karin to drive while living with that wonderful family. I was a member of the Stamford Police Department at that time. Lucky often asked about Police work and finally after some encouragement Lucky took the test and the rest is history. Lucky would go on to become a great police officer and loved his job and family. I am so very sorry for your loss. Please know he is still watching over and will continue to protect others from a much higher place. If I can ever help any member of Lucky's family all you need is to call I would be honored.

Dear Rhonda and Carly....Please know that our prayers are with you and the entire family. Our hearts are broken. We know that Lucky has had health issues in the past that were very serious but he made it through. The Lord called him home to rest in peace..no more pain. Thinking of you. The DeRubis Family.
