Lydia Sylvia Toti, of Monroe, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 20, 2014. Born October 9, 1946. She was the daughter of the late Lyle and Mary Salerno Bent of Bridgeport. Lydia was predeceased by her loving husband, Edward.
Lydia is survived by her son, Neil (Christina) Toti and her granddaughter, Giuliana of North Haven. She is also survived by two siblings: her brother, Frank Bent of Monroe, CT and her sister, Janice Prentice of Texas. She leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews, caring cousins, neighbors, colleagues, and friends.
As her first career, she earned her hairdressing license in 1967. She worked for the Monroe Board of Education for 26 years. She worked as a paraprofessional then as a secretary.
Family was her priority. Lydia, a devoted wife and mother, loved and cared for Edward and Neil with her entire heart. She enjoyed entertaining and dinners out with the girls. Lydia was a “social butterfly” with her warm smile and witty personality. She always kept busy doing hair on Thursdays, baking Christmas cookies, and shopping trips that ended to the Christmas Tree Shop. Above all, she treasured her time as Giuliana’s one and only, “Gigi”. We love you!
A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, October 24, at 10am at St.Jude Roman Catholic Church 707 Monroe Turnpike. Friends and Family may greet the family from 8:30am-9:30am prior to Mass at the Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe.
