A mother of 7, grandmother of 18, and great grandmother of 1, Marge lived her life with unwavering faith and love, not just for her family, but for all those she met on the walk of life.
A graduate of Laurelton Hall High School, Marge met Ernie at a block party and became smitten with the man she would love until her death.
After raising 7 children, Marge completed her Bachelors’ degree in Psychology at Sacred Heart University, was a member of the National Honor Society, and worked at the Kennedy Center in Bridgeport.
As a mother, Marge was renowned for her chicken soup, artichokes and masterful management of a large and sometimes recalcitrant crew of children. “Aunt Margie” was especially beloved by 29 nieces and nephews. She was the consummate “Grandma” to 18 beautiful grandchildren and one great grandchild, with another on the way. Marge said “please” and “thank you” until her dying breath and will be remembered for her unfailing kindness.
Marge was active in the Catholic Church, and worked with Ernie on numerous Emmaus weekends to help teenagers experience the love of the Lord. She participated in many CROP “walks to end hunger” and fostered a sense of ministry in her children and grandchildren. To all who entered her life, Marge offered unwavering friendship and love.
She is survived by her husband, Ernie Hodson, her children and their spouses - Steve and Sue, Ann and John, Bob and Teri, Carol, Jim and Dee, John and Christina, Tom and Connie, and her sister Madeline.
A visitation and remembrance of her life will be held on Sunday, February 23rd from 4-8 pm at Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home. Her funeral will be held at 11:00 am on February 24th at St. Theresa’s Church in Trumbull followed by an interment service at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Trumbull.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you feel free to make donations in Marge's memory to Doctors without Borders.
