Born in Gallinaro, Italy, she was the daughter of Luigi and Laura Casale. She emigrated to the United States in 1947 as a teenager with her family and settled in Stamford, CT. She carried with her a deep love of family, tradition, and good food, which she shared generously with anyone who crossed her path. Later in life, she moved to Newtown, CT where she was a longtime member of St. Rose of Lima Church.
Her family was her greatest accomplishment, and she found her joy in creating a warm and loving home where everyone had a seat at the table. She brought the traditions of her Italian upbringing into her house where food was an expression of love, and she never needed a recipe. Her happiest moments were surrounded by her family, but especially her grandchildren, who held a very special place in her heart.
She leaves behind a legacy measured not only in years but in generations of family who were nourished by her love and devotion. She is survived by her daughters, Angela DeMarco and her husband Carter, Dina Sabia and her husband David, grandchildren Carter DeMarco (Kelsey), Daniel MeMarco (Amanda), Chelsea Blackiston (Brian), Matthew Sabia (Alexis) and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Mario C. DiVito, sister Giovanna Broccoli and brother Antonio Casale.
