She leaves a legacy of having touched many over her 78 years, forging relationships that lasted her lifetime. Mary was born on January 15, 1947, in Brooklyn, NY and moved to Valhalla, NY in her teens. She graduated from Valhalla High School, attended Westchester Community College and spent her career at IBM as a manager. Mary settled in her own home in North White Plains, NY where she was very involved in her community. A great listener and always opinionated, she was a quick-witted giver and lover of all, including her furry friends. Most of all, she could see God working everywhere, and angels were abundant. Mary was active at Holy Name of Jesus Parish, where she shared her faith with teens and sang in the folk group. She loved to travel and enjoyed taking her nieces and nephews on her adventures. Predeceased by her parents Anthony and Anna Goveia (Tunney), her brother Kenneth and his wife Joy, Mary leaves her sister Ruthann Noonan and brother Donald Goveia and their families, including many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Holy Name of Jesus Church, Valhalla, NY, on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., (Livestreamed at www.holynameofjesuschurch.org). Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery where she’ll join her family at rest.
