Born in Bridgeport on February 16, 1938, to the late Edward and Honora Lynch Molloy, she was the second of six children in a large Irish-American family. After raising her three children with the late John J. Donovan, Jr., Mary graduated from Sacred Heart University while working for the Diocese of Bridgeport, which she served with distinction for over forty years.
Mary’s greatest treasures in life came from her family. In her retirement, she enjoyed spending afternoons “shopping for doodads” at T.J. Maxx with her sister and weekly board game lunches with her siblings. Above all, Mary most cherished being a mother to her three children and “Nanny” to her nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. By offering gentle encouragement, sharing treats (especially Irish soda bread and lemon squares), and simply sitting together to talk, she made each member of her family feel uniquely loved and valued. Mary’s presence was a source of support, comfort, and love that cannot be replaced.
Mary is survived by her three children and their spouses: Kerry and Allen Perille of Shelton, Kate and Michael Mangan of Fairfield, John and Debra Donovan of Stratford; her grandchildren Jessica and Anthony Renaldi, Andrew Perille and Erin McKeon; John, Molly, and Sam Donovan; James, Julia, Olivia, and Finlay Mangan; great-grandchildren Teagan and Caden Renaldi; siblings Kay Dolyak, Edward and Bonnie Molloy, Eleanore and Robert Chaloux, and Jerry Molloy; and brother-in-law Edward Raynor. In addition to her parents and former husband, she was predeceased by her sister Anne Raynor and her brother-in-law Andrew Dolyak. Mary is also survived by many special nieces, nephews, and cousins.
