Nilda was born in Uruguay to Genaro Manuel Hernández and Eutropia Borges-Hernández on May 5th, 1942. She married the love of her life, Ottavio Di Santo, on March 9th, 1963, in Piriápolis, Uruguay.
Nilda was a loving wife, mother, and cherished grandmother who was fiercely loyal and dedicated to her family and friends, always putting the people she loved first. She had a passion for cooking and found great joy in preparing her family’s favorite meals for their cherished weekly Saturday gatherings. These special moments brought her immense happiness and created lasting memories that her family will treasure forever.
Nilda was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Adriana Di Santo.
Nilda is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, Ottavio Di Santo; her children, Ines (Pat) and Silvia (Ronald); her brother, Juan Carlos; and her beloved grandchildren Anthony, Christina (Spencer), Ryan, Brandon, Christian and Justin.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, November 6th, 2026, at St. Theresa’s Church in Trumbull, 5301 Main Street, Trumbull, CT 06611 with the Reverend Brian P. Gannon officiating. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 1056 Daniels Farm Road, Trumbull, CT 06611. Arrangements are by Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home.
