Norca was born in Palma Soriano, Cuba, on September 21, 1949. Norca was the daughter of Luciano Gomez and Orfila De La Vega Gomez. She married Luis Arturo Hinostroza in 1971. She is survived by her son Paul Hinostroza, and sister Marilyn Gomez Gelabert with husband Juan Gelabert.
Norca arrived in the United States from Cuba in 1969, and resided in Bridgeport, Connecticut. She attended Central High School in Bridgeport, and graduated in 1970. She later earned her associate degree from Housatonic Community College in 1992, and graduated from Sacred Heart University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. An enthusiastic student who had enjoyed learning, she later became a computer teacher for the Milford Adult Education program.
One of Norca’s great passions in life was to travel the world. She travelled to many places around the world such as Italy, Greece, Iceland, Holland, Peru, Jamaica, Panama, and Croatia, just to name a few. She was very cultured, and liked to learn other cultures and languages. She often bought trinkets, jewelry, and pieces of art during her travels. She would later display these beautiful mementos in her home, and gift some to family and friends.
Norca was a supportive and devoted wife to Luis Arturo Hinostroza, and a great mother to her son, Paul Hinostroza. She was someone who stood by her family, always helping them in their time of need. She also encouraged family and friends to pursue their passions, lending them an ear, and offering them wise advice on life’s challenges. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and cherished friend, who will be missed.
