Pete Barnes, of Newtown, CT, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 27th in his favorite chair at his home that he had built with his wife, Carol. Pete was loved by all those who knew him. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Carol, of 35 years, beloved father to his son, Travis, loyal friend to many, young at heart, genuine, gracious and always grateful for all life had afforded him.
Pete's family was originally from Massachusetts and came south to raise the family in Trumbull, CT. He was never far away from his roots or his friends. He was a patriot, proud of his country and his service in the United States Navy during the Vietnam war from 1965-1969. He was also a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox. Pete's career started as an artist who honed his skills in the union as an ironworker, then turned to smaller contracting positions working as a craftsman on jobs with private clients and friends.
Pete was an avid golfer and will be missed on the links by his buddies. He has many nieces and nephews that gave him great joy throughout his life. He was predeceased by his brothers Charles (Rick) and Jeff Barnes. He is survived by his wife Carol, son Travis, sister Sue Barnes Coyne, brothers Steve and Donald Barnes, and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
The memorial service is planned for Saturday, October 7th at 1:00 PM at Pete and Carol's home.
