Phyllis Kansky

She was born in Bridgeport, CT, daughter to the late Phyllis (Santillo) Discepolo and grew up in Bridgeport, CT and the Cleveland, Ohio area. Phyllis eventually settled in Monroe, CT where she lived for 61 years.

Phyllis was passionate about three things; her family, her friends, of which there were many, and public service. She was renowned for her cooking and baking, which she shared at family events and social gatherings. Phyllis also loved serving her community, which she accomplished with over 50 years of service to Town Government. Phyllis first joined the Town of Monroe in 1974, where she worked for 30 years and was appointed the Director of Human Resources in 1995. Phyllis was elected to the Monroe Town Council in 2005 and served two terms. She then joined the Town of Bethel in 2004 and served as the Director of HR and Grants Administrator. Phyllis cherished her Bethel coworkers dearly, which is why she continued to work at the Town Hall until nearly her 90th birthday.

Phyllis is survived by her ex-husband William Kansky, who moved back in to lovingly care for her during her illness, her sons, William (Michelle) and Dean Kansky and her grandchildren, Ian and Olivia Kansky. She was predeceased by her sisters, Marian Schaer and Dolores Ellis.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday March 18th from 5 to 7 pm at Spadaccino & Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT 06468. Funeral services will take place on Thursday March 19th at 10 am, beginning at Spadaccino Funeral Home and concluding at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, 500 Moose Hill Rd., Monroe CT 06468.
