Born on July 28, 1949, in the Bronx, New York, Ralph was the son of the late Rudolph Lattarulo and Lucille La Barbera. He attended Evander Childs High School before beginning a 25-year career as a software engineer with IBM. He later spent 10 years as a mail carrier with the United States Postal Service. Ralph also served in the United States National Guard in 1969.
Throughout his life, Ralph called several places home, including Hawthorne, New Jersey, and Southbury, Connecticut. In 2009, he returned to New Jersey, where he enjoyed his retirement years before moving back to Connecticut in 2024 to be closer to his family.
An accomplished and passionate bowler, Ralph spent countless hours at the lanes, participating in IBM's bowling league and numerous other leagues throughout the communities where he lived. Bowling was more than a pastime; it was a lifelong passion that brought him camaraderie, friendly competition, and lasting friendships. He passed that love of bowling on to his son, Michael, who continues to bowl in a weekly league alongside many of Ralph's former IBM colleagues. Ralph remained a familiar face at the lanes, joining the team each week and serving as its unofficial "coach," affectionately known to his bowling companions as "Godfather." Though he was no longer bowling himself, he never lost his enthusiasm for the game or the friendships it brought him.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Ralph was a devoted fan of his beloved New York teams, especially the Yankees, Giants, and Knicks. Whether cheering on his favorite teams or sharing his opinions about their latest performances, his passion for sports was unmistakable. During retirement, Ralph also enjoyed playing bocce, embracing another opportunity for friendly competition and good company.
Ralph was truly one of a kind. Known for his jovial sense of humor, quick wit, and larger-than-life personality, he was affectionately described by many as "quite a character." Never one to shy away from sharing his opinions, Ralph loved a good conversation, some friendly teasing, and the opportunity to get a laugh out of those around him. He particularly enjoyed recounting his childhood adventures growing up in the Bronx with his group of friends known as "The Wanderers." Ralph had no shortage of stories, opinions, or good-natured mischief. Whether you agreed with him or not, you could always count on an entertaining conversation.
Ralph is survived by his son, Michael Anthony Lattarulo, and his wife, Jennifer, of Trumbull, Connecticut; his daughter, Lisa Anne Haase, and her husband, Larry, of Southbury, Connecticut; his grandchildren, Cassandra Lattarulo, Ryan Lattarulo, Nicolas Lattarulo, and Callie Haase; and his step-grandson, Anthony Haase. He was predeceased by his parents, Rudolph and Lucille Lattarulo.
Ralph will be remembered for the laughter he inspired, the stories he loved to tell, and the spirited personality that made him uniquely himself. His humor, his opinions, and his love of a good-natured debate will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Calling hours will take place on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 1 pm – 4 pm at Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home located at 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT 06468.
